You want to succeed. You really do. You've done all the work necessary to begin you on your path to success, but there's something wrong.
You're having a hard time getting motivated.
Believe me, I've been right where you are. I've had my goals laid out ahead of me but it was hard for me to get into action and keep motivated to get to where I wanted to be.
There are things that you can do that will help you stay motivated as you work towards your goal.
First, you need to use something called "visualization." This is where you "see" yourself achieving your goal. You see the successful outcome and it fills you with the energy and the desire to begin to work towards that path.
By using "visualization," you can also create a negative scene that you can view -- and this time, you can see the results of not working towards your goal. Let's say that you want to get ahead in your company and the way to do this is to go back to school, but you're hesitating. What you can do is imagine someone else heading back to school and succeeding at the company while you stand idly by and that negative scene of not taking action is sometimes enough to get someone heading towards their goal.
You can also discuss your goals and plans. When you put them out there, talking them over with your partner or with a close friend, you make them more real, rather than just a daydream that's in the back of your mind. At the same time, you can also make it so that they can help you to stay on track by asking you for updates as to your progress.
Make sure that you're really interested in achieving your goal. It's one thing to have a goal that you're really not all that interested in achieving but it's something else entirely to have a goal that you just don't want. In other words, it's hard to stay motivated if you're living someone else's dream. Make sure that the goal is what you want and when you have aspects of it that you don't like doing, focus on the bigger picture so that you understand when you finish with the unpleasant task, you'll be one step closer to getting whatever it is that you want.
Want to stay motivated -- make sure you have energy. It's hard to be motivated when you're dragging your butt on the ground. You need to have power and passion and that comes from making sure that you're getting enough rest and that you're staying in good shape.
Make sure that you're in the right state of mind. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to be motivated and depressed? If you're down in the dumps, work on eliminating those negative feelings while you work for your goal. If you can't do that, you might need to take a break and let those feelings pass.
Take a baby step. That's right -- make sure that you maintain forward momentum and before you know it, you'll be well on your way to achieving your goal. Do one task towards your goal and you might well find yourself doing another and another and another -- and before you know it, you're done.
Whatever it is that you're trying to achieve, by staying motivated and on course, you'll find yourself on the path to achieving success.
